Biomedical science is increasingly yielding technologies that can be used to enhance the capacities of healthy people, as well as to treat disease. This two-day workshop will aim to advance the debate on the ethics of human enhancement by considering
- What enhancements are likely to become possible?
- What enhancements will be ethically permissible?
- What enhancements should be legally permitted?
- What criteria should be used to answer 2 and 3?

Dr Ilina Singh will be speaking in London at this upcoming ADHD conference. Hosted by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the conference will explore issues in the NICE Guidelines on ADHD and Stimulant use. The meeting will run for two full days, November 13-14, at the headquarters of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington DC, including an evening session on November 13 hosted by the Dana Center. The program will consist of invited symposia, a debate, an FYI session with announcements of neuroethics-relevant information from the assembled group, break-out lunch discussions, a business meeting, coffee breaks and a reception. Symposium topics include forensic neuroscience, neuroeconomics & decision making, controversies in pediatric neuropsychiatry, deep brain stimulation & functional neurosurgery, the business of neuroscience, and neuroscience & national security. Dr Ilina Singh will be speaking on Thursday, November 6th 2008 at London's Dana Centre, a public forum for the discussion of science and technology issues.
